Oval walk now powered by solar energy

As part of the University’s sustainable energy program under its Black Out! Green In! –Project CarbonNeutral campaign, the 300-meter covered walk transcending DLSU-D’s oval road is now solar powered.According to the memorandum issued by the Environmental Resource Management Center (ERMaC), the LED lights that illuminate the covered walk are powered by stored energy from sunlight. The project, funded by the income derived from the sale of recyclable wastes, will save the University 2,000 KW of electricity per year and will reduce the school’s carbon footprint by 1,800 tons of greenhouse gases.Another advantage of the solar powered walk is that it can still operate and provide light for pedestrians even during blackouts and power outages.
